nfa guns in IL?

Supposedly class3/nfa is impossible in IL. So how do I go about getting around it? I've been told for class3 where legal ,you need to pass background check, pay a $200 "tax", and get the signature of local police chief to verify your clean background, and your sane. If I wasn't in IL I would have no problem getting what I want. Can I do the paper work and go to a ffl in another state, and get what I want? Or do I need to change my "legal" residence to say Wisconsin or Iowa.

You're in Illinois. You're screwed. You'll always be screwed until Chicago secedes and becomes it's own state. Then the rest of the state can vote out the liberals.
