Newbie Questions (Boost & Fuel Pressure)

At what RPMs can I expect the boost to kick in? On my '86 GN, the boost doesn't kick in until around 3k, is this normal?

This car came with a fuel pressure gauge, it doesn't seem to function normally, it either stays around zero or goes to 100, is there an easy way to measure fuel pressure without buying another gauge?

It all depends on the converter you have in the vehichle, mine has a stall around 3200 so my boost doest start to build until then. Now as for the fuel gauge if its mechanical try and tapping into the fuel rail. Electric one's malfunction a lot. A mechanical on you can get for extremely cheap.
