Hi, I was gonna buy a new air filter and I see there's a K&N drop in, is it worth buying or a waste of money, or just stick with a Delco?
Thanks....Skip

I don't think the element itself is much of a restriction, so it doesn't really matter. Most of us have removed the stock air box and gone with a large cone type filter.

Will there be any problems not using the Thermac? Do you have any Picts of the setup with the cone?

Thanks again

From a long time ago
OK, I took a picture of this setup today. The filter is a K&N RE-0810 which I bought from Conley's performance at the GSCA Nationals (~$45). It fit's perfectly where the stock air box was and uses the factory accordian duct. (This is in my '82 GN)

And here's another version from my '83 T Type. This time I wanted to keep the stock air box in place in case it gets cold enough that I need the THERMAC for daily driving. Something has to go so the cone can fit, so out came the charcoal cannister. Since the accordian isn't long enough, $3 worth of dryer duct does the job.

Eventually I used 90° bend of 3" exhaust pipe to move the filter to behind the bumper on my '83. The car does fine without the Thermac in the summer. If it gets in the 40°'s, then it may bog a little on acceleration.

Thanks I'll get going on that set up after I tune it up, change out some Vac lines. I tried clicking on the pictures but it kept coming up "not found" but I get the gist of it.
Thanks again for the help!
