I believe code 12 is "Error Code Diagnostic System Functioning Correctly"

Hi,
Code 12, while the car isn't running, means nothing more than that the ecm is not receiving an rpm signal. This is normal.
Our cars are pretty notorious for no start issues, and you have to begin by checking the obvious stuff. When you turn on the ignition, do you hear the pump run for a couple of seconds? If not, you have a fuel problem. Next, take a plug wire off,check for spark.If you have spark, you are probably dealing with ecm issues. I would bet you have no fuel pressure, but what do I know? We could go further, but I think you should check the basics first, to identify the area you need to search.

There are several common "no start" items that occur periodically on these cars.

Check the orange wire from the battery to the computer for a proper connection.

Listen for fuel pump prime when the key is turned on and then check fuel pressure.

Swap in a known good MAF sensor.

Change out the crank position sensor.

Timing chain has jumped.

It is about a 99% probability that one of the above has caused the no start condition.
