Just bought some land, time to put the truck to work-

However, my old IH Scout is really hard to find parts for, and I'm gonna need to work a truck really hard to do what I need to do. Also need it to be a pickup for hauling stone.

Does anyone have suggestions for early 70s 4X4 trucks that are nearly as tough as an International (tall order, I know) but still are easy to find parts for (at autozone for example), and have good aftermarket support?

I need a relatively short wheelbase due to tight winding roads in the area where the land is.

I assume ford or chevy, but are there any models that stand out from 70-76?

Thanks-- George.

I would recomend an old chebby but to haul stone the bed cant be rotted out :D

other than rust you cant kill em

i agree with Red. its really hard to hurt a 68 to 85 SBC chevy.

if i had it to do all over agian i would not have bought my 79 i would have looked harder for a 75 or older.

1. no emissions
2. 4spd X-case.

If you need a really short wheelbase, go with a '69 -'72 Blazer and put a 1/2 cab on it to make it a super-short box truck. 106" wheelbase.

I used to have one and it was a crawling son-of-a-gun!

Get one of those 80's model K5 Blazers with the removable tops on them.A few of my buds have had them and they are bulletproof!
