Model Year???

I know this was discussed some time ago, but can't find the thread. If the 87's ran until December of 87, then how do I know if my car was built in November of 87 or November of 86 since the model year 87 began in Sept of 86? My build sheet for my 87 GN says November 11th, but would this have been the extended run in 87 or the new model year 87 which was actually in 86?

Do you have the original drivers door? Does it still have a sticker affixed to it with the build date?
