Maf

I think most change to a 3.5 LS1 or 3.0 LT1 is because you can't get a factory GM MAF anymore they are all aftermarket so it is more reliable to use a GM LS1 or LT1 MAF and with the Translator you can tune more with its adjustments.

If you're stocker is working I wouldn't bother. One of the nice things about the upgrade is that you can adjust fuel (and timing depending on the translator) with the translator. I can also say that I noticed an improvement in my idle but I was using an aftermarket maf when I switched.

If you have a working stock maf I would just use it until you start having problems with it, then upgrade to the translator and LT1 or LS1 maf.
