A powerlogger and a modern chip are all that's needed IMO.

Powerlogger and a TT WB chip would be fine if you have your combo locked down and didn't plan on changing it for years to come. But the cost to get it all setup your in it for the price of a sportsman from cal and if you do change setups your going to save money by not having to get a new chip burned.

I have been there lots of times. Now i just go straight to the xfi. Even on our 15k mile car.

An adjustable chip is the easiest way to tune your own car.the xfi usually forces a tuner/vender dependency as most guys will not be able to work the xfi and get very frustrated with the car and I don't know of a tuner that will give the hot tune up program that some crave right off the bat,most often you have to get it yourself or work at it with the tuner.conservative tune on a xfi or chip car is still conservative.
 
With the auto learn of today's systems, all you really need is to call once for initial setup and that's it. Pretty much go from there.
