I got a stock MAF. I want to convert to a 3 in LT1 MAF. I know i need a translator or a translator plus . I do not have a scanmaster, do i need one to tune the new set up ? Also with the translator plus , di i need the entender chip as well and where does it go. Confused.

With the translator or trans+, you don't have to have the extender chip, the extender allows you to have more accurate MAF reading if you are pegging the MAF at 255, it "extends" it to 510 by effectively cutting the MAF reading in half.
The translator allows you to control fuel at idle and WOT. the trans+ allows to to control fuel and spark/timing, BASE and WOT.

For tuning, you will need some type of scan tool, otherwise you're shooting in the dark about where to place your settings in the translator.

The extender chip just replaces the factory chip in the ECM.
