lost all gears.... what is usually the cause?

40mph, hop on the throttle, trans downshifts, bucks, and goes all neutral. not even reverse..

any ideas what could have happened?

sounds like it broke the forward drum or lost the pump. start the car real quick and undo one of the cooler lines. If it flows then the pump is ok and chances are its a snapped forward drum shaft. Good luck man.

Could have also taken out the input shaft or splines into the overdrive planet.

mine was a fresh rebuild with pts drum, servo, street strip, etc. Driving it normal for a few days then on the way home driving 55 it lost all forward & reverse gears. I found out tonight that the 10 vane pump broke. Looks as if were gonna look for a extreme pump.

i had the same problem,left the light got to about 40-45 mph,then everything was like in neutral.pump went out
