Anyone know this unit?

Buddy has it sitting in his shop, retired guy.
What is it worth to buy?

age ~15 years
pretty clean
220 volt
He has four collets with it and a couple cutters.

Just trying to get a idea of it's value and see what to offer him.
Or to even bother with it.

Thanks AJ

Wassup AJ? Long time. Remember Pete from #turbobuick chat? He was a machinist. I have no idea how to find him. Maybe someone from the NE knows him; he would know. You wanting to cover your garage floor with curly pieces of metal? One place you could try is hobartwelders.com and register for the weld talk section. Those guys are all into fabricating.

Hi John

It has been a while, how are things with you and your family?

#turbobuick I recall the channel but do not remember him ( do not remember a lot from those years)

Curly metal is cool , but hard on the fingers . . .

Well have been adding a few pieces to the garage, need some toys to play with to kill some time; have done some reno's on the garage and made some more space in it soooo need to fill the space.

Been on #buickgn for the last five or so years.

Thanks AJ

Is that a Jet? Can't tell from the pic. It will probably be a 3 phase motor; check that first. If so, you will need to buy a phase converter to use it. For light duty, general fab stuff like most of us car guys are going to use it, that should be a nice machine.

New Jets and similar offshore built units are going for around $1500-2k; you can find an old Bridgeport for similar coin.

The tooling and collets can cost more than the machine; the more of that sort of stuff you can get with it, the better.

They are usually made by the same company but different labels.
Check out Enco for similar models to give you an idea on price.
