just installed 30 tooth driven gear, but the speedo cable is too small.

I installed a new 30 tooth blue driven gear in the trans. However when i plugged the speedo cable in to the trans, i noticed the cable is too small. The hole in the gear where the cable slides into is too big and i dont get a mph reading anymore. What should i do?

Either gear was made wrong or cable isnt right. Now with the assumption that you only changed gear and the cable was working properlly, probobly gear. But did the speedo cable break? Is it round or square at the end?
