Thinking of getting this programmer to help out the gas mileage on my 05 trailblazer and my Fathers 05 8.1 Silverado. Anyone have any thoughts on this programmer?

How does it help fuel economy? Additional light load timing advance?

I used HPtuners on my old '04 GTO and it had a "dormant" australian strategy for lean cruise mode. I was able to populate the tables and make the lean cruise active. That worked nicely. Aside from that, the only way to get any fuel economy was timing advance, which the LS1 did not like much. An additional 2 or 4 degrees at light load would make it ping even with 93 octane.

Thanx Steve,

Now the plot thickens I was talking to my buddy and he gave me his EFILive to mess around with. It has two licenses left in it so Im thinking of loading a tune I found on their forums and see what I get. They dont have anything for the 8.1 so that would have to be from scratch. Supposedly theres claims of 22 miles per gallon highway and 16-17 city with some serious tune time. Seems well worth it considering im getting 12 at best city. If I blow it up Ill just have to finish the Buick!
