Just wanted to make sure there is no washer of any kind on the bolt holding the balancer to the crank.

Yes, A hardened .200" (guessing) thick ground washer. Both sides of the washer is surface ground. Definately not a Home Depot washer.

I'd better look a little harder. I either "mis-placed" it this time or one of the last 5 times and it's been missing awhile. If I need one, where could it be found?

1st thought would be junk yard unless someone on here sells you one.

Very important to use the THICK washer and nothing else. The torque of the hub agaist the crank pulley via transferred through washer is very important to keep hub slot from sheering and key from sheering. If you use a thin washer it will just bend

I found one on the floor by my workbench. The only thing is it was by a ball hitch that I took off of something. It fits perfectly and was pretty thick. If it wasn't the original it sure looks like a match.
Just saw your picture. Thanks. The one I found has a brass color but real close to that thick.

Did you not see the post that said it MUST be hardened?

Must be the correct washer
I made the mistake of using a thin one
Bolt came loose cracked the balance:eek:
No damage to the crank
Lucky I caught it could have been a lot worse
