I bought a stacked plate tranny cooler and would like to mount it in front of the radiator on my '86 T-Type.
My question is: What is the best way to access the area between the front of the radiator and the grille? Basically, in detail, what do I have to remove in order to get to the front of the radiator? I tried doing a search but all I could find is advice on where to put the cooler.

Thanks!

Steve

under the car you'll see a cloth type thingy that goes from the rad support to the grill. just in front of the ic scoop is where it mounts to the rad support. 4 10mm screws to drop the back half and you can get up in front of the condenser. if ya need more room after that, look straight up and remove the 4 10mm grill screws up in there. just don't lose the cage nuts that the bolts go through. then the grill can come out with the cloth thing still attached....if ya need even more room.....well...how big is this cooler;) ;) ;)

The grille is really easy to get out. I took mine out and had all the room in the world. I installed mine with one end attached to the core support and the other end wire-tied to the cross bars. Below are pics of the cooler I used and the hole you get when you pull the grille out.

I used Aeroquip "socketless" hoses, too. Worked great and are very tough hoses that are up to the task of the high temps and pressure.
