Question about Hooker blackheart steering shaft installation?

Last year I got a new orginal steering shaft installed, way to loose, And the mechanic I didnt like either, He kept telling me the upper control arm was in the way, not much room. Anyways this year picked up a Hooker Blackheart (71223022HKR) for the GM S10 & g-body hoping to stiff up the steering, I went with Hooker instead of the Jeep mod. The Hooker looks way better, plus everythings brand new.

Hooker says it fits g-body(grand national) with no mods, but I watched a video on youtube, Buddy was putting in the same shaft but the top end where it slides to the shaft of the car didn't fit right away, was tight. He had to shave a little off the sides of the car shaft, So the steering shaft could go in. He was installing it on a Monte Carlo not sure the year, but was a g-body..

Question Is there any of the Turbobuick guys install this shaft, and tell me of it just fits?

I have one in my '87 T. I had to make no alterations on mine.

Collapsed it, installed it, & Loctited hardware. Fit with no issues.

FYI I replaced the shaft bearing up by the firewall as well.

thank u, you're the best. that's what I wanted to hear. Looked like an awesome piece when first laid eyes on it, Compared to looking for a jeep shaft with GM US part#'s that don't match with GM Cdn parts#'s and nobody remembers the year and it's discontinued.

Me too, I already have the bearing mod.

I have to replace my front shot control arm bushings with moog, that's the time I would like to put to new steering shalf in, way more room.

I make no warrantees/guarantees written or implied.....:p:p

Obviously every car is different. Hopefully your install goes smoothly.

I just went to the UMI uppers & lowers during their holiday sale. We shall see what kind of difference they make.
