finally got around to checking motor, here is what i got.
#1. 140psi
#2. 150psi
#3. 154psi
#4. 148psi
#5. 150psi
#6. 140psi

performed the test on the motor cold(about 45 degrees F in garage),plugs out, charger on battery to keep volts constant, throttle held wide open. i'm planning on doing valve springs but with the above numbers not sure if i'd be better off doing something else first. car is a 1989 tta w/ 42k on it, never been opened up w/ basic upgrades. need suggestions on what to do next!

thanks, guess i'll start doing the springs. one other thing, can you replace lifters by themselves or do you only replace them with the cam(think i have a noisy one-ticking noise around #3 cylinder/sounds like it's coming from valve cover)

#3 is famous for losing lobes, so I'd check the lifters for abnormal wear patterns. Could also be an exhaust leak from a cracked header, sounds very much like a lifter tap, and is very common. HTH
