i need help

i let my friend hold my car to go to the store he goes in and comes out and the car wont start. i get the car home i put the key in the on position i get power on the dash but wen i crank it no start no crank no nothing. but when i jump start it it starts up fine and runs but if i turn it off it does not start on its own.

Sounds like a dead battery. Have you put a multimeter on it? It could have had a sudden internal failure like a collapsed cell.

Sounds to me like your starter is not getting a good ground. Run a line from the starter to the neg battery terminal or to the chassis.
