How hard is it to fix a head gasket, and a spun bearing on an 86 gn?

What kind of special tools will be needed, and special expertise...

Thanks..

Hard? not if you have good credit...

Well the motor needs to come out and that is where it starts. Other things could be messed up inside and you could be looking at $3K+.

To fix the headgasket, about $150-200 in parts (bolts, gaskets, etc.) is required plus labor.

To fix the bearing another $100 in parts+ labor, best case scenario. Worst case scenario, you are buying a new crank, cam, radiator, turbo and anything else that was contaminated by the metal.

You don't know until you pull the motor and look inside.

This is why headgasket blowing should be avoided at all costs and if one lets go, shut it off imeadiately, call a flat bed and pull the motor to replace the gasket (and clean the antifreeze from everything it touched)
