Gasket failed with no knock . Motor was freshened up only 10k ago. The gasket I used was a felpro 9441 . I was tuning when the gasket let go but the a/f was around 11.5 and 0.0 kr on scan tool . I had minor knock when I was lowering the boost after a new boost controller installed . I'm upgrading a few items while I'm in there poking around . Next few weeks ill be replacing the stock mounts with HR poly mounts, RJC head gasket kit, iac angle kit , air distribution plate , metco drive shaft loop. I'm also replacing the power master with a hydro boost setup . Between power brake service and hydraboost any preference in either company. Both sell new Bosch and both seem like a good product hydraboost is 855 for their setup while PowerBrake service is about 1000 . Just want some input from some people on the board.

0 knock on a scantool doesn't mean there isn't knock. I am working on a car right now that had a bad fuel pump at the beginning of last summer. On Alky, 25psi, no knock retard, .810 O2 on the scanmaster. When I put a wideband on it, it was 16.9 to 17.5AFR. Put a new fuel pump in it, and it went to 10.8AFR. 4 months later he called me saying it is using coolant. I pulled the heads, the gaskets were slightly leaking (stock gaskets with o-rings in the heads). I pulled the pan, and the2 center mains were toast. Off to the machine shop, the piston pins were galled, needed oversized pins, rods were distorted on the big end, and a cylinder was collapsing from the pressure, needed a sleeve.

I have a wideband a/f gauge and I was under 12.0 . My oil pressure is also 20psi at idle and 65-70 psi when driving under load . I had no water in my oil and it still idled but it seemed as though I blew a header gasket but that was what I found

Sounds like it had some serious knock to cause that kind of carnage . Did he run out of meth when this happened . I was turning the boost to 17 psi and it let go after the I let off the gas. What kind of gaskets do you use . I heard felpro are not as good as they once were

Countless times I have heard knock on these cars and never see a thing on SM or gauges or even PL for that matter.

It might be a good idea to check for surface flatness and continue w/the fel. 9441's until things get sorted out. They make for good insurance
against unintended crank removal.

Do you run meth injection?

Yeah I have meth and it was on and full . I run it with the premium 91 the chip I ordered had 94 octane rating . The 2nd washer is a very good tip . I'll order that right away. I had the heads sent to the machine shop and they found they were out 3.5 thousand so I had them both plained flat . That's for the info folks updates will follow
