Sorry, but it sounds like your mechanic is making excuses. It should not hang down any lower than your old system. Richard Clark has seen your pics and agrees it is not right. I will be seeing Richard, Dennis Kirban, and Pete Hoffman tonight (here in BG) and will remind them of your situation.

Exhaust height

As indicated in the above post, I took the below picture to show my exhaust. At the rear of the muffler it is 4" above the ground. I don't think I can raise it any higher. It works for me (no problem in clearing any driveway).
