Took the 87 out last night and it ran great. First run of the year so always tense :)

Went to start it today and nada...zip...nothing. It cranks and I hear the pump running.

It wanted to run but acted like it wasn't getting enough gas. I jammed a spark plug box (empty and flattened) into the throttle level to open it just a bit and it started/ran fine. Was able to drive around in the driveway with no problems. It evened idled fine.

Pulled the piece of cardboard out and it sputtered and died.

When my Daytona did this to me it was the IAC motor thingy. Could that be the case here? Any way to test that?

Thanks,

Will

An update. I sprayed carb cleaner into the holes in front and behind the throttle plate and that seems to have helped but not perfect.

I then removed the IAC and cleaned it off well.

Question - should I be able to push the plunger in by hand? It won't budge..

Replaced IAC and all is well. No, you should not be able to push the plunger in as the new one didn't budge either.
