GN Center Cap Question

The stock wheels weren't on my car when I bought it. I picked up some stock wheels that I'm going to have rebuilt and some center caps. Since I've never had them on the car, I don't know how the metal rings should look. I've accumulated several nice caps, but on some, the little pointed tabs on the metal rings are bent straight up, while on others they are bent down, and on at least one, both ways. What's the right way for these to be positioned? Thanks!

I dunno the answer to your question but make sure you glue the bejesus out of the metal rings to the plastic caps or you'll be chasing another loose cap across the freeway every couple months.
