Posting this here so it doesn't get lost in the mix of turbo buick regular stuff in the normal for sale section. continuing to sort through these parts, adding FS threads accordingly.

Engine was originally built several years ago in contemplation to go into a truck, maybe a jeep from what I've learned so far. Engine was built but rest of project never moved forward. engine has never been fired. Shop owner had too many turbo Buick projects and other cars in the pipeline and never returned to finding the right truck for this project.

Block => 3.8L casting 25520040 - from an '85 GN

Heads => 25518445 casting; mild port work

Crank => GM stock crank; unsure if NA or turbo crank regarding rolled fillets on rod journals

Cam => Crane Cam part # 813941; flat tappet; see catalog page pic attached for specs

Lifters => Crane part # 99284-12; see catalog page pic attached

Intake Manifold => Kenne Bell part # 44100

Carb => Rochester 4bbl

Oil Pan => GM 14 bolt pan with windage tray added

Balancer => from turbo buick engine

Valve Covers => 84 -85 turbo Buick

if I break it down by just parts, I figure...

3.8l 0040 casting turbo Block $300
8445 heads $100
tb valve covers $50
from Kenne Bell catalog price list, intake cost $199
stock crank $150
stock rods $75
GM timing cover $100
turbo buick balancer $75
cam, lifters, valvetrain parts, etc. estimate $200
oil pan - 14 bolt with added windage tray $50
water pump, gaskets, hardware are ?
carb ?

So at least $1325 in parts alone. asking $1100 OBO.

Engine is located in Upper Mt Bethel, PA about 15 minutes from Delaware Water Gap area.

Terms: Cash in person. can assist with loading into pickup truck bed using straps and chains from a backhoe. no engine crane / cherry picker on site. there is an overhead hoist.

Prices are good
for clarity:
040 casting is a normal production 3.8L 2bbl block.

Thanks Adam for the input and info on the 0040 block. I was using the block, head, crank part number chart from the gnttype.org pages showing in '84, the 0040 block as N/A, turbo Regal, and turbo Riviera applications so I was unsure about the cross use for the block.
