Flexplate Info and balance job

We are getting closer to getting this project running but in the 5 years have forgot a few things. The engine builder had the rotating Assy. balanced, he used the balancer, and flexplate as well. I can see welds on the flexplate to add weight. I can also see where the crank was drilled and weight added. We are going with a T400 and wanted to get a SFI flexplate but not sure about its affect on the balance job. The engine builder is no longer around and really never told us how he had it balanced. What should I do about this?

The cheap "short cut" way would be to take the current flex plate, and the new one, to a balancer who will match them up. That will probably be Ok. But the safest way would be to have whole rotating assembly redone. That's one reason why it is good to have internal balancing- then you don't run into this problem.
