filter spring clip

i read on Don Wang's tranny website that the filter spring clip should be moved 1 valve body bolt over to prevent the filter from touching the 4th gear switch. Must this be done even if u put in a 700r4 filter or Bruce's new sump kit?

is the spring clip supposed to be on the black plastic part of the filter or the metal part?

On my sumps there is no reason . It does not utilize any clips.

Bruce, I have one of your 700r4 filters that came with the pan. Should the spring clip be used on that one? I noticed the filter is shorter than the stock one.
