Factory Tachometer question

What does the factory tach read off of??? when mine is at idle it say like 4-5k??? Any reason why it would do this???

The electronics in the dash for it go bad. Very common problem with any turbo Buick. The fix is to have Caspers electronics calibrate it for you. Or just don't pay attention to the Knight Rider LED's.

My factory boost and tach read the same as yours 4-5 k, I don't even look at those things anymore, they weren't too pretty to look at when they were working right.
