downpipe?

86 t with 50# injectors, te44, precision front mount and a th 3' downpipe. car is strong but not making a lot of boost in first gear. was thinking of switching to a dp with an external gate. any recomendations??

Check the obvious things first, you could have an exhaust leak somewhere, the wastegate puck not sealing 100 percent, it could be a little bit rich down low or any combination of things like that. A really cheap add on that works really well is the rjc boost controller. It made a huge difference in the way the turbo spools up on my car, even with the ball bearing turbo.

Ive got the same turbo on my car, with a 3in thdp,50inj,gn1 front mount, and a home made cold air kit.it spools up fine. I would check what LOLGN said to do.if the puck is not sealed tight agaist turbo it will loose boost. That 44 should wing right up.

Also What converter is in the car?
