Does OTC tool alter performance?

I recently overheard part of a conversation, and would like input from you guys. What I think was said was that if running the OTC 4000 monitor during a 1/4 mile run, you had to be careful to have it in a specific "mode" - otherwise the OTC would screw up the timing. Can anyone elaborate on this? If it's true, what exactly happens? Thanks for the help! (I've got an OTC 4000 and an '84 T)

It's been a while since I used an OTC, but from what I remember, you need to run it in ROAD test mode instead of ALCL mode. This is accomplished by selecting: (1,4,9,2) going off of memory here, so don't take it to the bank but it should get you in the ballpark.

I USE A 4000E IN ROAD MODE TO HELP TUNE MY CAR. THIS, TO ME ONLY HELPS.
