Does low Preload loose performance?

Hey guys, I went from a 206/206 flat tapppet to a 206/206 ROLLER and I get alot of lifter noise after installation due to low preload and I when I took the car out for a drive for about half an hour to get the oil hot to see if the lifters would quiet down, I noticed the turbo seemed to spool up slower and lose of power. Can low preload cause this?

Thanks
George

Usually, less lifter preload will enhance bottom end performance. Did you degree ( phase in ) your cam? If not, that appears to be your culprit.

The lifter tick could be setting off the knock detector. Causing the poor preformance.

There are differant lenght pushrods available on the aftermarket. These will give you the preload your looking for.

I had a set off flat tappet lifters (federal Mogual) . no matter what the preload they where noisey. It would not go away. Until I got a set of Comp. Cams lifters.

Hope this helps

i'm getting longer pushrods today from the person that sold me the kit.
I hope it solves the lifter noise.

Thanks guys
