Delay from Park to Drive

What would cause a couple second delay to drive? Reverse goes in gear like it should quick like, just drive is slow to engage or something. This is in a 2004R with art car shift kit and recently rebuilt with type F fluid, add yes it is full. TV cable is good. Shifts fine and operates good otherwise.

Found the culprit to be a ripped Teflon ring on the input shaft.
