Decking a 4.1 Block

How much material can be removed from the 4.1 "291" block deck?

As little as it takes to get the decks true. The decks are thinner than a 109 block and they have a tendancy to crack to the coolant holes. To be honest everything about a 4.1 in my opinion is doing the least amount of material removal as possible.

I agree. Thin decks on those blocks. Take as little off as you can.

Mine was decked .025" to make it square. No ill affects that I can tell. Have not had the heads off since so I don't know if the deck cracked. I do not have a cooling issue or disappearing coolant issue so even if it were cracked it must not be a problem.
