Check valve prevents boost from entering the motor.

While in boost the motor stores up psi (blow-by), once the motor goes into vacuum the pcv sucks up the oil. Better engine ventilation can reduce the pcv issue and reduce oil from dipstick.

Ok that makes sense Walter. So my question is - is there better engine ventilation systems besides a crankcase evac system? Are you saying open breathers are good or bad?
