Crank Sensor

Brought my GN in for an inspection on Friday and once we got it on the emissions dyno, the car wouldn't start. I was pissed!!! Anyway we started looking at the car and noticed " no spark " Did the usual troubleshooting and we think it is the crank sensor. Has anyone had a problem with theres? How often do these things go?

Any and all feedback is welcome.

Thanks, Mike

The ones Ive replaced had physical damage, so u may want to pull it and look for damage. Ive noticed the new fwd gm cars have covers that protect them. Cam sensor is also used to initially set spark timing, and thereby can cause a no start, with spark present.

Of all the major electrical gadgets that can go wrong with our cars, the crank sensor is the least expensive ($25-30 @ your favorite A'Zone, Adv Auto). I'd just go ahead and replace it, set the clearance @ 0.025 in., so I could cross it off the list.

Be prepared with a 1/4 in. drive ratchet, extension, u-joint & appropriate size socket to get the top nut/bolt out/back in!

Good Luck!
