Convenience Center Access

My car has the option code of "T63" (Headlamps On Indicator) but I don't hear any chime when I take out my keys with the lights on. This is literally the only thing on my car that doesn't work at least as good as when it left the factory. So naturally it bothers me. The Electrical Diagnosis Manual indicates that I should check the voltage at the Chime Module, which is in the Convenience Center, which is shown as being between the radio and the steering column. I took off both the lower d/s panel and the lower vent panel, but still don't find any easy access. Can I just reach back and pull that sucker out? Or is this one of those times where I have to stand on my head and break my back on the seat while I try to maneuver the VOM probes back there? :(
