Is this normal that I cannot make changes to my Programs unless I connect to the car's Fast Box?

That isn't exactly true. You don't have to be connected to the car to make changes to your program. You can save your program to your laptop and make whatever changes you want "offline". Then later, you can connect to the ecu and download the updated program.

Joe, you don't have to leave the program open. You can close it, power down the laptop and reboot, reopen and make changes off line. I'm not trying to beat a dead horse, but I want to be clear that if you unplug from the FAST and leave the program running and then take it home and make changes, they won't be updated in your ecu if you just plug back in. You need to save what changes you have made and when you re-connect go online and select "Read All Tables" and dump the new program in. If you have any questions, feel free to call me and I will try and explain better
Well Cal,
It will not work if I close the program and rebout. The ``Save ALL Tabs`` will not appear open. The yes I know that I will have to neter it in the FAST once I connect in the car.
I don`t mind that I have to do it this way. Been doing it anyways...
Thanks for your help.

I can't figure out how to save tables while offline either. How do you do it?

I know that for myself, I have to connect to the FAST in the car. Take the Laptop out without closing the program and make changes anytime after that. just as long as I don`t close the Program, I can make changes. But once I close the FAST, I have to go back into the car and plug it up again. I was told because I am using Windows and not DOS...
I don`t mind doing it this way. The car is downstairs...I don`t have to go far..

I email and send programs all the time to customers using the Windows version. You don't have to have a car to do this. Here's how you should be doing this:
1. While connected and online, click Save All Tables and name the program
2. Go Offline with the ecu and remove it from the car
3. Take the laptop to a comfortable place and click Read All Tables and select the appropriate program.
4. Make whatever changes you want and when finished click Save All Tables and rename it
5. Now return to the vehicle, and connect the ecu and go online
6. Click Read All Tables and load the new program into the ecu
I should have added, my phone number is 321-863-2303 for those who aren't customers of mine.
Cal
Before I jump the Gun here, I think I remember that the ``Save All Tabs`` is not lighted so we can click on to save.
I will have to get back to you on this. And this is why we have to connect to the ECU to make changes.
I will do this tonight and get back.
Joe
J-B Racing is correct - "Save All Tabs" is grayed out.
Last time out with the car, while connected I made a few changes to my GCT file and selected "save"
While running the car with these changes I saved a log file.
I save all this stuff to a flash drive then take it in the house to my desktop whick also has CCOM.
I can run the log file fine, I can look at my GCT file, but I cannot save any changes.
Ahh, now we are getting to the bottom of this. You guys never mentioned swapping computers. The reason you can't do this is because the other computers are in "Demo Mode" and have never been connected to an ecu. Connect to an ecu once and it will be fixed. Or you can transfer your FAST config folder to your other computer and it will go out of Demo Mode.
