That's officially crazy.

Reminds me of Apollo 13 with the wires' insulation burned off the cryo tank heaters

Now the next discovery. Looks like this is an old hotwire kit. Look at the terminals..can you say high resitance? Hey John order a new one!:) And lastly a new fuel filter.

Yet the car undercarriage is quite clean - so it's not a mud crawler by any means.

Good case for always using lithium socket grease and shrink tube when you can.

Today I installed new front hoses, bleed some brakes. Messed around with some wiring under the hood and dash/console area. What a hornets nest. Removed upper control arms for new bushings. Went wildly crazy cleaning the front of the frame. New issues are melted positive battery cable due to not being far enough away from pass side header. I also installed the line for the stock style trans cooler. This a non lock tranny and it used a single pass external cooler only. I am utilizing the new cooler in the rad tank with a multi pass external cooler. Here are some pics in no order.

Wow, those lines look crappy! Good thing you caught that. That ride is going to be much happier when you're done. Nice shop too. Wish I had something nice to work in...

So why you thinking the pump wires and plug got hot?
High resistance is my guess, look at the hotwire plug pics. The tank opening had to be massaged to remove and install, not a fan of that. So new racetronix set up with new hotwire kit should hook him up. He's down grading to a 6262 bison special for street ability.
