can u tell the difference between a gn or t-type by the vin#

No. I remember there was a thread like this some years back and some people said their vin as run on CarFax would come up as a Regal only. Others said their's would come up as a T-Type. My GN comes up as a T-Type although both T-Types and GNs were just packages, not models.

My insurance company can't tell. My 87T is listed as a GN on my policy. Probably because of the engine code.

Nope

Eigth digit "7" indicates LC2 Turbo engine, only other VIN digit usable is the fifth: J or K for Regal, M for Limited Regals. Must look on RPO trunk label for WE2=GN. HTH.

Well, we know the SEQ. VIN NO. of the last GN is 465288, and that the final give-or-take 10,000 cars were GNs, so in a way you can tell at least that much...
