cam sensor install???

i broke my cam sensor, my short block is put together, is there any way of doing it??? can i just pull the old one out and put the new one in the same exact way and facing the same way??

NO!!! It must be installed in a VERY specific manner. Top dead center, 1.45 inch stip of tape, right voltage, etc. Here...read this:

If you don't feel comfortable in doing it yourself, it would probably be wise to have someone more experienced do it for you. If it isn't done right, you will have problems.

also can you do this with just the short block built? or does the motor have to be complete???

If it was me, I'd wait until just before firing it up, because that way you can prime the oiling system with a primer tool. Primer tool can be made from an old Chevy (yup! Prolly < $5.00 at any junk yard) distributor with the drive gear removed, and a 1/2" drill motor...
