So, I'm talking to this guy who has an SRT-4. He said he has beaten every car on base. Well I told him I wanted to race him for 200$. As far as he knows, I have a 6 cyl 87 Regal.

The guy doesn't know anything about his car. He bought the car with the stuff done to it. I asked him what kind of turbo he had and all he said was "t3 or t4 something". The kid doesn't even know what a wastegate is.
 
Did he accept? If so, get video with your $200. It may be a hustle, but chances are you can probably get im.

first i want to say thanks to all of men and women serving this great land of ours. now what i know and seen in your pics with that combo you would beat a viper,and your worried about a crap banger. there is 2 here in my neighborhood (blue, yellow) yellow factory stock, blue has air intake chip exhaust d.p and some other crap. fast, but my t-a destroyed it with wheelspin out the ass. dont wait for the summer,do it now the kills here suck on this board. one final y a b.b turbo especially a huge 70 size to get a little knat. kill him now in your cross hairs stab and steer. be safe and all of you come back alive and in one piece.
 
I was talking to a guy with a SRT-4 at the track this Summer. He said it was going to be his day for his first ever 12 second run. He bolted slicks onto the front, rolled through the water box, and did a burn-out that would make John Force proud. He staged, brought the RPMs up so they were banging off the rev limiter, dumped the clutch, broke a front axle, and had to be pushed to the side.
I think the cars are good for what they are - a quick inexpensive car that can whip up on most FWD "tuner" cars. But they aren't a 1/4 mile specialist like the TR.

This SRT, "Fast & Furious" wannabe dope is stalling. He's going to do research and find out what a Grand National is, especially with his $200 on the line. I'll bet $200 he'll back out before spring when he realizes he's way in over his head.

If he's cluleless about his car tell him you have a "V-5 or V-6....I really don't know much about it. I just use whatever it takes". :D
 
Hopefully soon my combo is going to be the 70bb q trim turbo, double pumper, 72's, 3400-3600 stall, atr dp, champ alum heads... (might just keep the duttweiler ported)... and all the rest of the goodies. ****, my combo now will beat him... might as well make the beating look real bad.

The SRT in the right hands can run VERY respectable! My son's 04 with,a Buschur exhaust.stage1 computer and a K&N cold air intake and 15# of boost ran 12.84@105.xx Not bad for what was done to it. The boost has now been turned up to 17# but no new times, as traction is a real issue now!

I don't think the drivetrain will take that kind of abuse for long. The term "grenade" comes to mind.

You are probably right! But he has 5 more years of warranty left.

Not with what has been done so far. The e.c.m. and adjustable boost controller are Mopar Performance parts. Mopar makes alot of go faster parts for the SRT and Turbo PT Cruiser and it does not affect the warranty.
 
Hey, progress1vebmx how long you been out there in 'why not minot freezin' the reason' in North damn Dakota? What your AFSC? I was stationed out there back in 1980 when it was a SAC base as a SP. I don't miss that cold weather out there.

Good luck with your new set-up. Some SRT-4's can be setup to run. How how many times on that drivetrain can they can run 12's or high 11's who knows? Supposedly their drivetrain is beefed up; time will tell.

So where are you gonna run out there?
 
You know.. I'd like to run at that track... but it's an 1/8 mile. Might as well just do a quick run down 83. I'm stationed here as an SP too. The cold isn't too bad... especially when you get excited if it's zero degrees. It's supposed to be in the 30's tomorrow. What a relief... it was -33 a while back.

I know those cars can be fast... in the right hands. His may be fast, but how long will it last? He doesn't know what a wastegate is... he claims he can run 30# of boost off a "stage 2" turbo...

He talked to me today about getting a sprayer thing for his intercooler to give him "5 hp". He really doesn't know much about his car, besides the fact that he beat a 3000GT SL, and a Camaro.

Hopefully by the time I race him i'll have my car running 10's =x.

as far as I know, mopar does not make an mbc for our car, and even if they did, any "mopar performance" parts are not considered genuine daimler chrysler parts and therefore will not be covered under warranty if something breaks as result of the parts. I'm not trying to be a jerk, I've just done a TON of research on this and it seems to be relative to each dealer, either way, if something breaks even the cool guys probably wont fix it if they know what you've done to modify it. I've had my SRT for a while now and all the dealers ive talked to went by the book, and thats what the book says. Also, I don't doubt your sons time, but hes gotta be at least using a wga too...cai, S1 and mbc wont net those times without a wga, at least that ive ever heard of.

oh and to the guy who mentioned the srts axle breaking, 03s didnt come with an lsd so they are weaker and have had problems, 04-05s have shown to be quite stout though.

as for comparing the toughness or potential of an srt with a gn...no contest, gn takes the cake.

if you're running 10s I dont think theres a single srt that will touch you, best ive heard of are low 11s but this guy doesnt strike me as one of those people. If he got stage 2 with toys, it comes with an intercooler sprayer, but I didnt think there was actually anyone who believed it had much if any benefit. Oh and 30#s of boost on S2...oy vay...no comment.

It was a adjustable wastegate not a mbc.But it was at 15#We took pictures of the car the dealer had on display touting 13.85 1/4 mile times and the saleperson went on and on how they stand behind the warranty. He hasn't had to use the warranty YET but I imgagine he will. When he ran 12.84 I couldn't believe it either with what was done to the car and on 15# boost.But there was alot of testing and tuning that he went thru before he ran a 12. The Buschur exhaust and Stage 1 ecm really woke his car up. He has dyno sheets of before and after the exhaust and dyno results before and after the adjustable wastegate and turning up the boost 2# and it seems he is going in the right direction.
