Looking for input on the best way to upgrade the rearend in my T-type.

8.5 posi rear completely stock is the current setup. TH-400 with a brake :) Also getting a new driveshaft for 1350 ujoints.

Yoke in the differential for 1350 ujoints? where to get?

What should I get to upgrade the rearend?

Best axle?

Spool?

Locking diff?

I want to replace everything and am looking for a good setup for 1.6-1.5 short times.

So post and help me spend my money.

You need to change the diff yoke. DTS has the part in cast or billet. Moser axles, 33 spline will live along time. Now are you going go drive this on the street? If so, then no spool. If not, then I would put a spool in it. As far as a good locker I will leave that up to someone that is running one that they like.

If you want to retain a limited slip go with the 31 spline Eaton carrier and Moser's. If you want a spool go with a set of 33 spline axles. I bought the 31 spline axles and carrier from Cotton earlier this year for one of my cars. Everything went together fast after i got the broken retention bolt out of the stock carrier:eek: . In fact i didnt even need to re-shim with the Eaton. The fit was the same with the stock shims in the stock spots. This could be completed in an hour easily if the bolt is not broken. The 31 spline axles were run in the 1.30's for 60's. A spool and 33's would be good into the mid to high 1.20's.

31 spline ?

I didn't know Eaton or Moser made a 31 spline for the 8.5.
IMO, if you are going to use the 400 and the brake--go with the 33 spline and the spool. Learn to live with it on the street.

I through the spool question out there not really knowing what it is or does.

What exactyly is it and why is it hard to use on the street?

Pro's and con's of a locker? I would like to keep it somewhat streetable, but if a spool is better than a locker for the Limited slip then so be it.

LEts hear what you guys got to say.

Thanks for the answer on the yoke do you have a website for DTS???

Here is DTS website:

We have brand new Eaton 30 spline LS and Moser 30 spline Axles with a TA rear cover and studs for the bearing caps. Decided to go with a Moser 9 inch instead, 35 spline and a spool. I will be putting the other parts in the for sell section soon.

33 spline spool and axles, New style ford ends with the big ford drum brakes. Everything is a direct bolt-on and is t-brake proof.
