You should first inform the police, maybe who owns the car today is not the last owner it had. It might be owned by the insurance that paid it off.

what 86gn/tt said when my 87gn was stolen the insurance paid me off after a couple months they found it 9 months later complete less vin tags and wouldn't even let me get personal items from it. a guy from inpound looked me up from info inside of car.
