How on Earth does this thing work? I give up.

You have to watch it for about 10 seconds and after it moves, you'll notice that it "changes" from 12 to 13 guys and vice versa. Can somebody figure this one out?

What they are doing is cleverly taking a little bit out of each person to make the extra guy. Look at it when it changes to 13 and you will see that all of the people are shorter. They cleverly lined them up so that when it moves they all get shorter by just a little bit. No two people are standing at the exact same height on the screen, and therefore the cutoff point for them is just a little bit different, making them all lose just a little bit of different parts of their bodies. As mentioned earlier the one guy loses the top of his head completely, another loses a BIG chunk out of his stomach, one person goes from wearing long shorts to what appears to be a skirt, another has very short, flat shoes. It's clever positioning, simple as that.
