Look at the tensile strength of bolts and studs

As long as tensile strength is strong enough for either, and it is with ARP fasteners, clamp load (which is one function of thread pitch) is the deal.

Thats why I use studs on anything serious, to get the finer thread pitch, for the clamp load.

and I was using the ARP bolts when the gasket blew.

ARP bolts are reusable.
Studs wont prevent blown head gaskets, staying out of detonation will
