Aluminum Brake Drums

Any advantage or disadvantage to using aluminum brake drums for street strip use? What cars came as original equiptment with them?

They are lighter then cast drums, So theres less mass. i know my peg leg 87 gn has them.

Where did you aquire your aluminum drums from?

factory cars without posi got them atleast in 87 that i know of, but you could do a search and find other cars that had them f-body's etc etc

I just found the answer to my thread, the following cars may have had aluminum brake drums: 80-84 LeSabre, 78-81 Century, 78-87 Regal, 81-85 Riv, 82-92 Camaro, 86-89 Impala, 78-81 Malibu, 78-88 Monte, 80-85 Delta 88, 78-82 Cutlass, 80-81 & 83-85 Bonneville, 86 Parisienne, 82-92 Firebird, 78-85 Lemans. The weight savings is about 5 lbs per drum, 1/4 mile ET reduction approx .02 and .2 mph gain. Every little bit helps, happy hunting.
