I am goin to bolt my 700r4 transmission to my 3.8 t engine what adapter plate is the best and easiest to get up here in Canada?

I'm not 100% but I don't think you'll need one. Maybe a new driveshaft though. Just out to curiousity though, why do you want a 700?

TCI and ATI both make adapter plates to go from BOP to Chevy and vice versa. I saw a previous post of yours saying you are doing a swap on a S15 with a 2.8 V6. The adapter wont work on that trans as it has the small 60° bell housing pattern. You will need a trans with the Chevy V6 90°/ V8 pattern or just get BOP turbo 350/400/2004r

i am putting a 85 3.8 turbo out of a gn that i just bought in to my 88 jimmy it has a 2.8 right now and i want to keep the tranny so i dont have to replace drive shaft and trans mounts.

thanks GNVAIR gues i will try to fit the 200r4 i got in to place. will have to find a longer drive shaft though

I like my 700 in my GN!! Thought I would give this a try before going to a 400.
Drive shaft is the same BTW. I forgot which plate I used to install mine

I didnt say anything bad about the 700r4, but the one he has is not the typical 700r4. He has the light duty unit with the 60° V6 bell housing for which he will need to atleast get a 90°/V8 version or use a different trans (i.e. turbo 350,400 or 2004r)
You do give up some et with the ridiculously low 3.06 1st gear as opposed to the 2.74 of the 2004r. Even better would be the 2.48 1st gear in the turbo 400.

trying to buy a bigger trans from a buddy came off a 350... so prob goin to stick with the 700r4

Blackbandit asked why he wanted a 700. I gave up on putting money in 200's.
1st is lower, I run 28" tall tires helps some, plus there is hardly any lag to speak of. Internal a significantly larger than the 200's. Will it live? Time will tell, was a lot cheaper to try than the 200's that ARE gonna break. IMO
Be different
