Hey guys. My old A.C compressor is shot. I purchased a new one. I haven't put the new one on yet because, I heard that when the old one goes bad its possible that metal shards from the A.C clutch can get thrown into the system. Has anybody ever heard of this and if its true what else besides the compressor will I need.
Thanks

IMO...Also, replace the orifice tube. When you remove the existing one, you'll most likely see metal particles on it. Normally an inexpensive part.

And the dryer, and the condenser, and the hoses...
It's not the clutch that contaminates the system. It's the compressor internals.
There's a recent thread on this topic...
