AC-Delco PF 47 vs. PF 52 Oil Filters

Just looking for some opinions, facts, or urban legend.

I have been running PF 52 for its increased filtering capacity.

But I started wondering if PF 47, being smaller, would pressurize faster on startup...or does anti-drainback valve make both filters equal in that respect?

Thanks.

Steve

I can't answer your question but the urban legend I have heard was that once they stopped making the UPF series of black Ultraguard filters, Delcos suck for our cars. :(

Specifically their anti-drainbacks suck, as does their overall quality.

Lots of old threads on the blow test.... :p

What about wix filters? Used to use them on the diesels at the shop I worked at. Didn't explode like the penzoils!

Thanks for the correction on the Baldwin filter number. I will source it for the next oil change.

Meantime, I just did a "blow test" on a PF 52 I got yesterday...it did not pass any air to the outside holes. At least I won't have to worry about drainback.

Napa 1036 and wix number is what, 51036??? Its the same size as the pf52

I have been running those napa filters for 4-5 years.

Napa sells bulk filters in a case, kinda like a value pack.. No boxes just shrink wrapped. They used to be very cheap, i bought cases of them a few years back.

Bryan-

Thanks. I used to use Wix filters too...had no complaints.

BTW, every time I look at your car pic, it sure looks good! And, that was a good wheel selection for our body style.

Bryan-

Who cares about your strip times? Heck, my car will do that...if it's dropped off a cliff. I wanna know how you trained your ride to walk up those steps to the loading dock where those great pics were taken!

Seriously, that is one of the best photo setups I have EVER seen for two cars...and one of my hobbies used to be photography.

Wow guys, im really shocked.... Too bad we didnt get that kind of praise when the thread was stickey?? LOL

Maybe i should forward some pictures to make that calendar for next year.

My car did make it up the ramp, but we werent going to try it with the GN, it sits lowwww.

That was my first time out taking pictures, not too shabby ehhh?

Here is the official list of whats done to the white car, the black one is faster.
