Please forgive me if I'm posting my question in the incorrect section. I'm just getting aquainted with the web site.
I have been tring to get some information regarding the following RPO codes that are on my '86 G.N RPO Tag. They are the following GU6, G87,and Y11. I understand that the GU6 stands for 3:42 axle ratio, and that the G87 is 8:50" ring gear. However what does the Y11 stand for. The only stuff that I could locate mentioned that this code represents that the car had an upgraded ring gear - a DANA 10:50. In addition, the following info was provided (S.P.O). I can only assume this stands for special purchase order. I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated. Is the Y11 option a rare or unique one?
I also was wondering the following: In 1984 the G.N.'s could be ordered with 8.5" ring gears and aluminum brake drums. Was this option carried over to '85, '86 or '87 GN's. If so, next to actually checking the drums how can one tell if the car was equipped with this option?
Thanks
