83 GN/T-type motor

I have an '83 GN/T-type 3.8 that I am testing the waters for to see if there is any interest in this motor. I bought it for a project car and ended up selling the car. I had been keeping it in case the 225 in my boat died until I finally got around to asking if I could bolt the boat heads to the block and found out it won't. I don't want a turbo boat and now I see no reason to keep the motor. :frown:

It is mostly complete including the big friggen' Holley sitting on top and the only thing I notice missing is the non-turbo side exhaust manifold and distributor. It's on a rolling cradle and has been since I pulled it from the car...can't remember the numbers on the OD.

If anyone is interested pop a PM or send an email and I'll get pics and numbers off the motor for you.

Swap for a HD folding engine hoist or a set of 16" wheels for my 66 P*ntiac convertable or 33x10.5 tires for my 71J?

Here is what info I have got and I'll put the pictures up on a web site so it won't eat up mailbox.

Block number 25506818 (3.6 GM 1 stamped on the block, so I know it's not the weaker 4.1) comes out as an '82 motor in some guides and 78-83 in others
Head number 25506293
Intake number 25504240
Turbo is AiResearch M11

Has the knock sensor hole on the block and the stampings in the valve covers are 418 and 017

The carb is no longer on the motor...I don't remember taking it off, so I guess it was "borrowed".
According to NHRA it should be a Rochester
H.P. Disp. C.R. Ind. Make Model/Transmission Manifold Lifter Head cc Notes
170 231 9.32 1-4 Roch 17080240/AUTO ONLY TURBO 25504240 1.55 H 42.7 2,6

2 - Carb sizes - 1375x2250/1218/AV
6 - Alt manifold 25505851 7 - Alt manifold 14014440,14057055,14057053

I'd like $400 for the motor, but I need a cherry-picker (engine hoist). If you have an extra one or can get one that will hold a big block motor, I'll swap straight across.

3.6 GM 1 stamped on the block
That was suppose to read as 3.8, but my typing skills are getting worse as I age and I can't figure how to edit these posts

As stated in the original ad, I'm in need of a cherry picker (engine hoist) of at least 2 ton like this (this guy may be close, but by no means does that mean I endorse this store) but I could use a Painless wiring harness 20104

These are the things I am looking for and if anyone has either, I will swap straight across....you can pick up or pay for freight (my zip is 72601) or we can work out some other "arrangement".

You should pull one of the heads off to check if the pistons are stock or if stamped its a rebuilt. PS- they didnt make any gn-t types in 83. they skipped that year, 82 and then directly to 84,85 etc.

i used to own a 83 t type, my brother owns it now.

The yard I pulled the motor/tranny/rear out of told me they came out of and 83, so that is what I went with in the ad...and also why I put the casting numbers up, so if there was a question, at least those didn't lie.

I've had this since '93 with intentions of putting it in a street rod just to be different than those Cheby guys.

As far as I know, It hasn't been touched, but I pull the head and take a look a photo as well.

Dang I must be smoking some seroius sh!t, could have sworn that I own a 83 T-type :p

Wish you were closer, may have been able to work some thing out

Head Pulled

As requested...don't know what stamp I am looking for, but the only one I found was a 7 on one piston. I didn't see anything that would resemble an overbore of .010 for example.
Casting number of the head is 6293

There is no ridge that I can catch with my fingernail as the pictures show...this is a clean motor
